Homemade Peach Pie

By: Hannah Hemen

This easy peach pie recipe is sure to be a favorite. I created this recipe using simple ingredients most people have on hand. I have to admit, however, I cheat when making pies. I almost always use store bought crusts… It just makes it sooo much easier and faster, and honestly, I probably wouldn’t make pies very often if I had to make crusts each time.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups peaches
  • 3 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 1/4 cups brown sugar (packed)
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp lemon pepper
  • 2 pie crusts

For this recipe, I used canned peaches. You can use fresh or canned, whichever you prefer. If you do use canned peaches, be sure to drain them well. One ingredient might come as a surprise to you, but trust me, it makes the pie! If you don’t have lemon pepper, you can certainly substitute 1/4 tsp black pepper and 1 tsp lemon juice.

Step by Step Instructions

Step 1

Line the bottom and sides of a pie plate with one of the pie crusts. Put the other crust aside to use for the top later.

Step 2

Combine the peaches, cornstarch, white and brown sugar, butter, cinnamon, and lemon pepper in a large saucepan. If using canned peaches, be sure to drain well before adding. Bring all the ingredients to a slow boil.

Step 3

Let cool for a few minutes, then slowly pour peach mixture into prepared pie crust. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

Step 4

Cover the pie with the second crust and fold the edges over. Press around the edge to seal the crusts. Be sure to vent the top crust by cutting a couple slits.

Step 5

Bake in preheated over for about 30 minutes or until the crust is golden brown. If the edges brown too quickly, you can cover the edges with a strip of aluminum foil. Allow the pie to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy!
